چکیده

T he new international multidisciplinary lung adenocarcinoma classification is sponsored by the European Respiratory Society (ERS), as well as the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the American Thoracic Society (ATS) [1]. This classification is now published in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, the official journal of the IASLC. Under the scientific oversight of the ATS and ERS, the classification project involved a systematic review to provide an evidence-based foundation with specific recommendations.

Two-gene signature improves the discriminatory power of IASLC/ATS/ERS classification to predict the survival of patients with early-stage lung adenocarcinoma

BACKGROUND In this study, we investigated the contribution of a gene expression-based signature (composed of BAG1, BRCA1, CDC6, CDK2AP1, ERBB3, FUT3, IL11, LCK, RND3, SH3BGR) to survival prediction for early-stage lung adenocarcinoma categorized by the new International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC)/the American Thoracic Society (ATS)/the European Respiratory Society (ERS) cl...

The New 2011 International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer/American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society Classification of Lung Adenocarcinoma in Resected Specimens: Clinicopathologic Relevance and Emerging Issues

Pathologists play an increasingly important role in personalized medicine for patients with lung cancer as a result of the newly recognized relationship between histologic classification and molecular change. In 2011, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer/American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society (IASLC/ATS/ERS) proposed a new architectural classification for i...

Relevance of the novel IASLC/ATS/ERS classification of lung adenocarcinoma in advanced disease.

Since the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), American Thoracic Society (ATS) and European Respiratory Society (ERS) reported a new lung adenocarcinoma (ADC) classification, several groups have validated its association with prognosis in early stage disease. To our knowledge, there are no studies in advanced disease. We reviewed 313 patients with invasive lung ADC wh...

Prognostic value of the IASLC/ATS/ERS classification and IMP3 expression in lung adenocarcinoma of Chinese cases.

The IASLC/ATS/ERS classification system was proposed in 2011 to improve the histological subtypes of lung adenocarcinoma, while the prognostic value of the combination of histological predominant subtypes is not consistent. IMP3 is an oncofetal protein which has been proved associated with aggressive tumor behavior in malignancies, but few reports were investigated in lung adenocarcinoma. The a...

Cancer stem cell-related marker expression in lung adenocarcinoma and relevance of histologic subtypes based on IASLC/ATS/ERS classification

BACKGROUND The cancer stem cell (CSC) theory has been proposed to explain tumor heterogeneity and the carcinogenesis of solid tumors. The aim of this study was to clarify the clinical role of CSC-related markers in patients with lung adenocarcinoma and to determine whether each CSC-related marker expression correlates with the histologic subtyping proposed by the International Association for t...
